National Roadcheck – Check!
The National Roadcheck 2020
Developed by the Department of Transportation, each year the National Roadcheck focuses on different issues for their roadside inspections such as brakes, tires, lights, and driver fitness. It is an effective method to create awareness, as companies and drivers know in advance, which ensures they are taking care of compliance issues. Roadside checks also include weighing trucks to ensure they don’t exceed limits on weight per axle and total gross weight of the whole unit. In addition, all interstate drivers are required to pass a physical examination for fitness as well as drug testing prior to hire, as well as periodic random checks. This keeps the public protected from impaired drivers of commercial vehicles. We fully support and follow these regulations to ensure our vehicles and drivers are at 100%.
General wear items happen all the time with mechanical equipment, more so with trucks as they travel many more miles than cars typically do. Our trucks that drive for commercial moves can average more than 100,000 miles per year! Our trucks that drive for household moves put on an average of 60,000 miles a year, as we spend more time loading and unloading and not as much time driving.
At Otto Nelson Moving & Storage, we have a full-time mechanic on-staff to keep our equipment up to date and in good working order. Most don’t know this about us, but as the largest mover in Kenosha, WI, our fleet includes:
- 6 – 26 ft. straight trucks,
- 3 – 15 ft. box vans,
- 7 – truck tractors
- 25 – moving trailers
At Otto Nelson Moving & Storage, we spend the proper time and resources on our equipment to ensure our trucks are running properly – and our moves are on-schedule!
